Most users assume that "plug and play" is always ideal. For the AB13X chipset, that assumption is wrong. The default Windows USB Audio driver prioritizes power saving over performance. It aggressively puts the AB13X chip into sleep mode, which causes a 2-3 second audio dropout whenever sound stops and starts.
